Hello ,

What a fantastic September we have had here at The Stables. It has been great to see so many faces back training with us and we have been making the most of these lovely sunny days. Our timetable of classes continues into October with very few changes, but if we do not have anything that suits you, please make contact as we are always looking to put together new groups or classes if we can.

Seasonal Changes

Embrace the outdoors!

We will continue to train outside or in the open sided barns during the Autumn and Winter months. This is not a new Covid friendly arrangement; this is what we have been doing at The Stables since we started our Fitness Classes several years ago.

It is no secret that outdoor exercise, even in the colder weather has so many benefits. For one, just being in the fresh air gives us a break away from the digital and concrete world we are often in, but it can also help ward off the winter blues, and prevent weight gain during the time of year where it is easier to perhaps lose focus on food choices!

Exercising in the colder weather is just as fun and, as long as you dress for the weather you will be fine. Dressing in layers is the key to exercising comfortably all winter. You can start the workout feeling warm, then easily shed the layers as your body warms up and you need less clothing. Remember to put your base layer on the bottom so as you strip layers off, the correct layer is underneath, and also protect the extremities like your hands, feet and top of your head. It is also important to remember to re-layer up when you stop exercising at the end of the session, and before you start to feel cold.

Here are a few essentials that we recommend you should have for outside training this winter:

 - Long-sleeve fitted base layer
 - Leggings
 - Windproof jacket
 - Gloves
 - Headband or hat
 - Warms socks

There is something special about training under the flood lights on a cold winters morning or evening and seeing your breath in the air.  As we always say, you will never regret coming to a training session - just tell yourself to get up, layer up and embrace the seasons.

New Teen Yoga Course

We are excited to let you know about a new Yoga Class for Teenage Girls.  This 50 minute class will take place on Wednesdays at 6pm and is suitable for teenage girls either in 6th class or 1st year who are transitioning from primary to secondary school.

Teenagers face many challenges relating to stress and anxiety. They are often overlooked when it comes to teaching yoga, yet they are the ones who may really benefit from regular yoga practice. This 4 week course will give a small group of girls an opportunity to learn more about yoga and mindfulness, and how it can help them in their lives today. The 4 week course is €50 per person and begins on Wednesday 14th October.

Pilates and Yoga

We have launched 2 new morning Reformer Pilates Classes at 10.15am on Tuesdays and a 45 minute Express class at 9am on Wednesdays. There are now 9 different class times to choose from each week and you can book online here

Mat Pilates classes continue to take place on Mondays at 10am and Tuesdays at 7pm.
Yoga classes are on Wednesdays at 7pm, Saturdays at 9am (Pregnancy) and 10.15am (Vinyasa Flow).

These classes are suitable for all levels and we ask you to book online
in advance, as spaces are limited.

Transition Year Students

We have had the pleasure of introducing the Steeplechase Obstacle course to Transition Year Students from Gorey Community School recently, and also look forward to welcoming students from Creagh College and Gaelcholáiste na Mara next week.

The Steeplechase is the perfect outdoor based activity for students of all ages to come and work together to improve comradery and have some fun in a relaxed environment.

If you wish to find out more about what we can offer your school group or sports team, please contact us.
